Elizabeth Deull is an artist who lives and works in New York City. She holds a B.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Master's Degree in Studio Arts/Painting from
New York University's Steinhardt School of Education. She completed the Teacher Certification Program in Art Education(K-12) at CUNY Brooklyn College, School of Education in 2009.
Since 2002, Elizabeth has been sharing her passion for demystifying art-making and empowering students to partake in the infinite possibilities of the creative process. She has taught all ages-- from college students, as an Adjunct Professor of painting at NYU to high school, middle and elementary students at Brooklyn Friends School and other programs. With a focus on painting, drawing and creative exhibition studies, Elizabeth enjoys infusing ideas of contemporary art into innovative, multifaceted lesson and curriculum planning.
Elizabeth has also been the Assistant Director at two NYC galleries and has conducted tours for school groups at the Guggenheim Museum. In 2010, Elizabeth paired this professional experience with her passion for teaching when she initiated a new Upper School Art Club at Brooklyn Friends School. Elizabeth and the Art Club went on to develop a dynamic, temporary student-run gallery in a community storefront space. Additionally, Elizabeth has served as a judge for two years for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and has been a juror on the selection panel for the residency program at the Hall Farm Center for Arts and Education.
As an artist, Elizabeth continues to be fascinated with the psychological power of the portrait. She has executed commissioned paintings and drawings for several private collections, and has designed commercial materials for small businesses. Her work has been exhibited at Marvelli Gallery, Cynthia Broan Gallery, The Lower East Side Girls Club, The Rosenberg Gallery and at the 80 Washington Square East Galleries in New York City, as well as Gallery 2 in Chicago.
